5:30 Marc Ziss, ZConsulting Using Subsonic to build a Data Access Layer and Admin App 5:45 Mark Magliocco, Consultant Mentoring 101
Marc Ziss  Separating Application Data Components into a Data Access Layer (DAL) is something we as programmers should always strive to do; but what about that one quick app that needs to be done ASAP? The one that has no time to be properly architected because it's only a temporary stop gap system anyway? (yeah, right).   Such systems (as well as those that are planned correctly) can highly benefit from using Subsonic which is a free Object Relational Mapping tool that makes building a DAL for your application a snap. It offers LINQ like functionality in its ability to easily manipulate database elements using strongly typed data, but doesn't require you to wait until VS 2008 to use it. Mark Magliocco You have been asked to lead the effort for a new project. You will need more than excellent technical skills for this assignment to succeed. One of the skills you will need is to be a good mentor. It is more then telling the team to do it right. I will review some of my tips to be more effective.
6:00 Steve Andrews, RDA Consulting Building a Visual Studio Debugger Visualizer 6:15 Andy Schwam, It's Time To Learn LINQ
Andy Schwam

Learn the basics of building Visual Studio debugger visualizers in under 15 minutes.

Andy Schwam The release of the .Net Framwork is coming up fast.  LINQ is a terrific addition to .Net and it adds a great deal of functionality.  But it means that, once again, us developers have a lot to learn.  With only 15 minutes, I'll try to cover some of the highlights and the features of LINQ that I've been using lately.
6:30 Travis LaBorde, TelerX XML is awesome in VB9! 6:45 Brian Donahue, Pigeon Moon ALT.NET -The Pursuit of Happiness (on the .NET Framework)
Travis LaBorde  Learn about some very cool new features in the new version of VB.NET for dealing with xml in your code.   Andy Schwam An introduction to the ideas and growing community that have recently been dubbed ALT.NET, what value is it attempting to provide, and some thoughts on Scott Hanselman's question about ALT.NET: "Why is this stuff alternative?" (hint: we agree!)
7:00 Danilo Diaz, Microsoft How to be more valuable 7:15 David Mann, KDC Holdings WSS as a Web Application Platform
Travis LaBorde Tips on how to become more visible, increase your value and enhance your perception.   WSS, the free component of SharePoint 2007, sits on top of ASP.Net and provides many valuable pieces of functionality.  In this session we'll look at one application built on top of WSS and examine the value it realized by using the WSS framework to build a solution.
